Over two thousand wines from 500 wineries worldwide participated in the Finger Lakes Intl. Wine Competition that took place in New York this past week. Forty five judges tasted the wines in this most highly esteemed competition and we were both honored and excited to hear the results deeming four of our wines prize-worthy!!!

Merlot 2005 – Estate Series: Double Gold medal – selected as an award-winner by the entire panel of judges & recognized as the best foreign Merlot.

Jonathan Tishbi Sde Boker 2004 – Special Reserve Series: Bronze Medal

Shiraz 2006 – Estate Series: Bronze Medal

Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 – Estate Series: Bronze Medal

A few words from Jonathan Tishbi, proprietor about the winnings:
"On my 68th birthday I received the news that we won the double gold prize for a wine of ours: Merlot Estate 2005. I took it as a birthday gift and as a compliment to the effort that we have been putting forth for the past 24 years in terms of the wines' quality and value for money. I also see these medals as international recognition of Israeli wine production thanks to the efforts invested in developing selected varieties of grapes that can compete with the best in their class worldwide, and of course, in our small Winery. We distribute our wines to approximately 20 countries around the globe.
The wine that won the Double Gold award – Merlot Estate 2005 is made from 95% Merlot grapes from Sde Boker and 5% Cabernet Franc grapes from Gush Etzion that originate in Sde Boker and Kfar Yuval. The wine was aged for a year in American and French oak barrels. Indeed, the wine is surprisingly bold and can well be bottle-aged for up to six years."
Although several of the wines that were awarded are not yet available for sale, some of you enjoyed a sneak peak during our pre-sale week event that took place last month at the Winery.
